Congratulations to Minnora “Minnie” Bishop, Heroes in Public Safety Hall of Fame inductee. Minnora “Minnie” Bishop is a proud graduate of Florida State University who currently serves as the Director of the Office of Talent, Leadership, and Culture (TLC) for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. Having held the seat for less than two years, Director Bishop has already enhanced the Detention and Probation Officer training academies to include more real-world applications. She also developed a multi-tiered Leadership Institute while assisting the Department with improving its recruitment and retention efforts. Ms. Bishop began her career in 2003 as a Leon County Juvenile Assessment Center secretary. In 2006, she became a juvenile probation officer and was promoted to senior juvenile probation officer in less than two years. In 2008, Ms. Bishop was selected as a learning consultant within the Office of Staff Development & Training. She transformed and standardized the certification training for juvenile probation officers statewide. After six years of service, Ms. Bishop provided her expertise to the world of transition planning for youth returning home from residential facilities, helping to implement a new rule/policy that would mandate intentional connections to employment, education, and mentoring services. In 2013, Ms. Bishop served as the Chief Probation Officer of the 2nd Judicial Circuit. Ms. Bishop has led countless juvenile justice reform initiatives throughout her career and advised various Probation and Detention-related projects. Although she is humbled to have been afforded opportunities to be a voice for the voiceless and assist in the growth of many individuals throughout the state, she considers her greatest accomplishment to be raising her two children (Isaiah and Makayla Bishop) and honoring Christ in her service to others.Heroes in Public Safety recognizes individuals who have attended TCC, have trained at the Florida Public Safety Institute or the Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education, and are working in the public safety field in our community.
