Reygan Kirkby Among Best At LCS (2024)

DENVER––Reygan Kirkby is among the best in the class of 2024 at Lincoln Charter School’s Denver campus.

We recently caught up with Kirkby, and she told us more about herself. The 17-year-old grad is the daughter of Chadwick and Amie Kirkby and the sister of Owen Kirkby.

The valedictorian is joined by her parents, Chadwick and Amie Kirkby, and by her brother, Owen Kirkby.

Miss Kirkby revealed more about her time at LCS. Her favorite classes were nutrition and English. Amongst her favorite faculty members, she singled out Trisha Amos, formerly a sixth-grade English teacher.

“Now our amazing principal,” Kirkby added of Amos’s newer role.

And among those who most influenced her, Kirkby cited elementary school gym teacher Jamie Seitz and kindergarten teacher Nicole David.

“Many teachers have had an impact on my life in so many different and amazing ways,” said Kirkby. “But those three specifically have really helped me grow and have been proud to see my accomplishments, along with wanting to see me succeed.”

She also cited Coach Paula Powers for her mentorial work as a role model.

“She believed in me in sixth grade and knew that I had the capability to grow in the sport of volleyball,” she recalled. “She instilled confidence in me and helped me learn how to believe in myself. Without her, I do not know where I would be today.”

Kirkby was in the National Beta Club and National Honors Society. She was a North Carolina Scholar. And she participated in many other clubs, including having a leadership role in the LCS chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was in Helping hands, DECA, Interact/Rotary and the Environmental and Sports Management clubs.

“I am also a mentor for two young elementary students through a program called Big Eagle/Little Eagle at my school,” she added. “It allows high school students to help younger students with whatever they may be going through and to have another friend they know they can count on or go to whenever they need help.”

This program truly affected Kirkby in a positive way.

“And I hope that it continues to grow stronger at Lincoln Charter,” she continued. “I also played varsity volleyball all four years and was captain my senior year. I ran varsity track and field for three years and set the school record with my four-by-200 and four-by-100 team.”

In August, she’ll be off to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Come August, Kirkby, here sporting a Tarheel T-shirt, will be off to Chapel Hill.

“I am currently unsure as to what my major will be,” she revealed. “But I have an interest in sports management, psychology, communications and PR. Ten years from now, I am not too sure where I will be. But I have faith in God and will trust His plan.”

And to the class of ’24, Kirkby offered the following words of wisdom.

“Never give up,” she said, “and know that you are never alone.”
