College World Series: Florida Gators and Florida State eliminated from tournament (2024)

OMAHA, Neb. —

The University of Florida and Florida State University baseball teams were both eliminated from the 2024 Men's College World Series during Wednesday's semifinal matches.

Florida vs. Kentucky

Florida crushed Kentucky on Wednesday morning after their Tuesday game was postponed because of weather. The Gators won 15-4 and play again Wednesday night at 7:55 p.m.

Florida vs. Texas A&M

The Gators were defeated by the Texas A&M Aggies 6-0. This defeat means the Gator's run at the Men's College World Series has come to an end.

FSU vs. Tennessee

On Wednesday, FSU faced Tennessee and lost 7-2, which ended the team's run in the Men's College World Series.

Florida State needed two wins against top-seeded Tennessee to reach the championship series.

Florida State on Tuesday beat the rain and the North Carolina Tar Heels as the Seminoles stayed alive in Omaha, advancing to the College World Series Semifinals. The Noles were the final ACC team standing.

The Volunteers topped FSU in the Seminoles’ Omaha opener earlier this week. In that game, they needed four runs in the bottom of the ninth to escape.

Wednesday’s schedule:

• 11 a.m. – Kentucky vs. Florida – Florida won
• 3:45 p.m. – Tennessee vs. Florida State – FSU lost
• 7: 55 p.m. – Texas A&M vs. Florida – Florida lost

Tennessee and Texas A&M need one win to advance to the College World Series final, and will not be eliminated with a loss.

If Tennessee or Texas A&M loses, there will be a rematch for a spot in the championship series on the line.
